8 November Family & Student Update

Dear Families and Students,

On behalf of AIS Leadership and administration, we wish everyone in Middle and High School who are heading out on our annual Outdoor Education and Leadership Programs (OELPs) in the coming days a wonderful experience! Our Elementary Students had a fantastic time this week during their programs, and we expect everyone to do the same.

Overseas experiences are life-changing as lived experience is transformative. What sets our trips apart is the service element of our programs, and we are proud of the support our students provide to the communities they visit. Knowing that they are making the world a better place should inspire and empower everyone involved, including our parents and families.

World Kindness Day 13 November

World Kindness Day is on Wednesday, 13 November. This global event promotes kindness to others, self, and the environment. At AIS, we will be celebrating our culture of kindness and Core Value of Love from 11-13 November for Early Childhood (EC) and Elementary (ES) and from 20-22 November for Middle & High School (MS | HS) because of schedule changes related to our OELPs.

In a world that can often seem less than kind, remember the power you have to change that. Every interpersonal transaction you have can be kind. You can lift others up, build their confidence, and offer them community. You choose the impact you have on others. Choose kind.

Winter Fair Performance Schedule

Thank you in advance for making this year’s Winter Fair memorable and fun for everyone! We sincerely appreciate the gifts that have been donated to the Winter Fair so far. Your generosity will make the experience so much fun for our students and their families! The generosity of our parent community is humbling.

I am confident that you will enjoy so many aspects of the Winter Fair, but certainly the musical performances will be a highlight for everyone. Here is the program developed by our outstanding arts team, led by Ms. Lynsey Reeves. I know you will want to ensure that you are here to see them all. Don’t forget to save the date!

Winter Fair Art Contest

Congratulations to all of our students who submitted art to the Winter Fair Art Contest. We received an incredible number of submissions this year, and the quality of the artwork is truly outstanding. Take a look at some of the pieces that will become our posters and tickets this year! We all owe our gratitude to our outstanding visual arts faculty Ms. Lynsey Reeves, Ms. Mae-Lee Gibson, and Ms. Janice Chan for their roles in supporting our students to produce this spectacular work.

Expansion of the Sexual Conviction Record Check Scheme

The Education Bureau has provided schools with a message for our parent communities related to the expansion of the sexual conviction record check (SCRC) scheme offered by the government. The scheme is designed to protect children from minimize the risk of sexual abuse and provides parents with the opportunity to request a voluntary SCRC from an individual who they might choose to hire as a personal tutor or coach or other support role for their child or children outside of school. For enquiries about the application process and more, please visit the SCRC website at https://www.police.gov.hk/scrc or email enquiry-scrc-ib@police.gov.hk.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

My best,
