1 November Family & Student Update

Dear Families and Students,

It is hard to believe that today is already the first day of November. While the weather may be cooling down, things at school are heating up! Please take a moment to check out the many events that have just taken place and read about what is coming next. You won’t want to miss a thing.

Halloween

First, Thank You to our outstanding PTA for decorating our campus for Halloween. They really set the mood, and it was absolutely SPOOKtacular! Their extra efforts to give all of our students a special experience that included a sweet treat and a take-away during lunch on Thursday was truly appreciated by all. There is no doubt that they made the day even more special for everyone. All students received a bag of assorted candy and a beautiful plush pumpkin keychain!

Be sure to check out just a few of the many outstanding costumes that students and staff wore yesterday. It was truly incredible!

Winter Uniforms

Parents and students are reminded that Monday, 18 November is the day before the start of Trimester 2 and the first day when all AIS students are expected to wear their winter uniforms every day; however, with the approach of cooler weather, students are welcome to transition into their winter uniform at any point, on or after this coming Monday, 4 November. If you need to place an order, please follow the link on this page of our school website.

Winter Fair 2024! 6 December 3:00 – 7:30 pm

If you have not already done so, please be sure to consider donating a prize for our Grand Prize Raffle Draw or the Prize Corner. Donations can be made by contacting Ms. Vicky Lam, our Director of Admissions and Advancement vlam@ais.edu.hk or Ms. Candice Ng, our Admissions Officer cng@ais.edu.hk. All prizes can be dropped off at the main office.

Diwali

This week marks Diwali, India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year. Also known as the festival of lights, Diwali is celebrated around the globe in commemoration of the completion of the summer harvest and the beginning of the new moon.

On behalf of the Leadership Team, we wish all of our AIS familiesstudents, faculty, and staff who are celebrating Diwali a wonderful holiday filled with light, love, laughter, family, and friends!

The Learner First

Thank you to all parents who attended The Learner First session on 15 October. It was fantastic to share the highlights of the learning that our faculty are doing on behalf of building an even greater self of belonging for our students.

Parents Make The Difference

The November issues of Parents Make the Difference newsletters are here and ready to use. As always, these valuable resources serve as excellent tools to assist you in helping your child build skills appropriate for each age and stage of their educational journey.

Make sure to check out page 2 of the Middle School edition, where you will find how to motivate your child to start thinking about the future. Additionally, on page 4 of the Elementary School edition, you can find some helpful tips on making discipline easier with a short set of house rules.

I highly recommend exploring the Daily Learning Planners as they offer valuable suggestions to facilitate dialogue and strengthen your bond with your children. Enjoy the meaningful interactions I’m sure these prompts will foster!

Parking

Families are reminded that parking on Essex and Rutland is not permitted, even for short stops, and everyone is asked to ensure that the sidewalks remain clear for pedestrian traffic at all times. Please be mindful of this expectation, in order to keep our students, staff, and families safe on their way to and from school.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

My best,

Anita Simpson
Head of School
