7 March Family and Student Update
Dear Families and Students,
The weather has been chilly and damp this week and our Elementary Sports Day was postponed to our rain date of Friday, 14 March, but our students and staff continue to have fun and enjoy their time together. Today’s Middle School assembly is evidence of the joy that we continue to share – rain or shine! Click on the images below to see a snapshot of two of today’s performances.
Re-enrollment for 2025-2026
Families are reminded to complete the Re-enrollment Form for the upcoming school year to ensure that they reserve their student’s spot by 31 March. Spaces are limited in several grades, so be sure to act soon.
GBA Robotics Competition
Congratulations to Our VEX IQ Robotics Team for achieving 3rd place in the GBA Robotics Competition! Three teams represented AIS in the competition at VSA on 22 February. The competition featured 33 teams from 14 schools across the Greater Bay Area. One of the teams, comprising Grade 8 students Runbo, Kevin, David and Nicholas, delivered exceptional performances in the finals and secured an outstanding 3rd place finish for AIS out of 33 teams! I am incredibly proud of our students for their wonderful achievement and of Mr. Jeremy Green for leading them with professionalism and passion.

International Women’s Day

Tomorrow, 8 March, 2025, marks International Women’s Day, an important day designed to raise awareness about the critical place of women in societies around the world. Mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, cousins, and friends – women play an essential role in our lives, and they deserve our gratitude and recognition for the many ways they achieve, nurture, care for, love, and support others.
This year’s theme “Accelerate Action” focuses on the need to emphasize the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality. It calls for increased momentum and urgency in addressing the systemic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres. In many parts of the world, women are not seen as fully contributing members of society, and they do not enjoy the same rights, freedoms, and privileges as their male counterparts. Issues of job, gender, and wage parity remain key areas that require our collective advocacy and attention. According to the World Economic Forum, for every $1.00 spent on women’s education and women’s rights, $2.80 in GDP is generated.
Ensuring that women have opportunities, support, and resources is essential to making a difference and to ensuring that women take their rightful place on the world stage. Please join me in raising your voice whenever you see issues of inequity arise, and tomorrow I ask that you are especially mindful of helping to raise the voices of the women in your lives and in our community who may not be in a position to raise their own. For some interesting facts about women’s rights, please see this resource from We Are Teachers.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.
